CGW Wins Top Editorial Awards

Computer Graphics World, a COP Communications publication, once again received top honors in the annual editorial excellence awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE).
Chief editor Karen Moltenbrey and contributing editor Barbara Robertson each received first-place awards in the business-writing competition, which draws close to 3000 entries from across the US each year.

Karen received a coveted National first-place Gold award, beating out all other entries across the country in the Case History category for her feature “Dino Might,” which appeared in the July 2009 issue of Computer Graphics World and detailed the novel digital imaging techniques used to examine a rare dinosaur fossil. Barbara also struck Gold, winning a first-place West region award, also in the Case History category, for her feature “What’s Old Is New Again,” which appeared in the January 2009 issue and provided an in-depth look at Digital Domain’s cutting-edge work in creating a state-of-the-art digital human for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The West region is ASBPE’s largest, comprising B-to-B publications from 19 states.

“This is truly an honor,” says Moltenbrey. “We take great pride in the exceptional reputation CGW has earned over the years, both as the premier publication for the computer graphics industry and as a nationally recognized magazine. It’s rare when you get the best of both worlds, but the editors at CGW are extremely knowledgeable about the industry and technology, and are fabulous writers, so they are able to deliver pertinent content that’s interesting and engaging for our audience.”

During the past several years, Karen and Barbara have received numerous business-press writing awards from ASBPE as well as from the American Business Media, which hosts the prestigious Jesse H. Neal Awards.

Founded in 1964, the American Society of Business Publication Editors is the professional association for full-time and freelance editors and writers employed in the business, trade, and specialty press. ASBPE is widely known for its annual Awards of Excellence competition, which recognizes the best in editorial, design, and online achievement.

“I am extremely proud of Karen and Barbara,” says William R. Rittwage, Computer Graphics World publisher and president/CEO of COP Communications. “This is just one example of how CGW is continuing to raise the bar in terms of editorial quality and leadership within the industry.”

For three decades, Computer Graphics World has been recognized as the publication of record for the computer graphics industry. Please join COP Communications in congratulating Computer Graphics World for this recent accomplishment and its continued dedication in serving the CG marketplace.
