STS Marketing, Burrell Communications Team on Toyota VENZA and Super Bowl XLIII

Southfield, Mich. - STS Marketing was hired by Burrell Communications of Chicago to provide creative editorial and postproduction on a new commercial, “Faces,” to promote the all new 2009 Toyota VENZA. “Faces” aired during the first quarter amongst the power house line-up of commercials for Super Bowl XLIII.
“Faces” introduces the new crossover from Toyota, touting its functionality and design as "influenced by many, but defined by none." The footage was shot on the RED One camera by Radical Media and director Antony Hoffman. STS Marketing’s Terry King was called upon to complete the creative editorial by Burrell executive producer John Seaton.

“I met Terry at the AICE Awards Show in Chicago in 2007,” notes Seaton. “We kept in touch and brought him to Chicago to do the initial rough cut.” King and assistant editor Patrick Duffy traveled to Chicago in October 2008 to complete the creative editorial at the Chicago Filmworkers Club, where the transfer and online finishing was completed.

As Toyota was launching the new VENZA, “Faces” was selected to air during Super Bowl XLIII. Burrell tapped King to handle minor revisions in January 2009. King recommended Postique and Griot Editorial, in Southfield, Michigan, to provide telecine, graphics, finishing, and audio post services for the revisions. All of the postproduction was completed online between Detroit and Chicago.

“Terry and the team in Detroit would post their cuts, and we would discuss it on a conference call,” says Seaton. “This project was a great example of working online.”

Chicago Recording Co. completed the voice-over and audio mix. Burrell contributors included John Seaton, creative director Munier Sharrieff, and art director Michael Willis.

Additional contributors included Postique senior editors Larry Puskar and Jeff Fleck, editor Jim Adams, and assistant editor Nancy Hodges; director of telecine Eric Maurer; executive creative director Lori Woods and graphics assistant Lisa Masson; senior audio engineer Darin McGowan and audio assistant Esther Nevarez; duplication technican Stacey Szostek; and Griot Editorial producer Mary Connolly and assistant editor Natalie Villalba.
