BOXX Technologies, maker of high-performance computing systems for visual effects (VFX), design professionals, and advanced visualization, is presenting vizBOXX, the company’s newest platform for advanced computing, visualization, and virtual reality systems, at SIGGRAPH 2008 in booth 546. Mental images is demonstrating the newly released RealityServer 2.2 in the BOXX booth. The 3D Web application services platform is on a cluster of dense vizBOXX units, which include five Nvidia Quadro FX 5600 professional graphics boards. RealityServer processes all 3D content on the vizBOXX cluster, which is being served to a client system with only a Web browser and via a wireless LAN to the Nvidia booth. BOXX is also demonstrating redBOXX, the first solution that allows film directors, colorists, and visual effects professionals to view 4K footage shot with the RED ONE digital camera at full-quality 2K resolution in real time.
Assimilate is in the BOXX booth to demonstrate the new redBOXX solution, which includes its Scratch software package for digital intermediate work. Autodesk is also showing the power of designing products on Autodesk Showcase, including Autodesk Opticore on an APEXX 8 superworkstation. Also, the performance of the 3DBOXX Special Edition workstation is highlighted in a side-by-side comparison with a standard 3DBOXX.
