VIEW Conference 2025 to feature Wicked: For Good VFX premiere presentation

The VIEW Conference recently announced an exclusive premiere presentation by the visual effects team behind Universal Pictures’ global cinematic phenomenon, “Wicked,” and this year’s epic conclusion, “Wicked: For Good.”

Join Industrial Light & Magic’s four-time Oscar-nominated production VFX supervisor Pablo Helman and VES Award-winning Framestore animation supervisor Dale Newton as they serve up a double dose of magic, exploring the extraordinary visuals of last year’s acclaimed musical blockbuster and now “Wicked: For Good,” which releases in theaters worldwide on November 21, 2025.
This year’s VIEW Conference takes place from October 12-17, 2025, in the stunning baroque city of Turin, Italy. Tickets are now available at the official website: https://www.viewconference.it/pages/registration

Appearing live on stage at VIEW Conference 2025, Pablo Helman and Dale Newton discuss their workflow on “Wicked” and “Wicked: For Good,” illustrating their approach using specific examples from both movies. All aspects of the VFX process will be explored, from pre-production to filming to post, and from director meetings and script analysis, to visual effects filming techniques and post-production wizardry. The presentation will end with a special Q&A in which audience members are invited to put their questions to the presenters.

“Wicked: For Good” begins with Elphaba (Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Oscar nominee Ariana Grande) estranged and living with the consequences of their choices. Elphaba, now demonized as The Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile within the Ozian forest. Meanwhile, Glinda has become the glamorous symbol of Goodness for all of Oz, living at the palace in Emerald City and reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time. With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.

“Millions of people worldwide are awaiting this year’s spectacular conclusion to the ‘Wicked’ story – and I am one of them!” says Conference Director Dr. Maria Elena Gutierrez. “That is why it brings me extraordinary pleasure to welcome Pablo Helman and Dale Newton to VIEW Conference 2025. Their premiere presentation on the VFX of both films is guaranteed to sprinkle magic dust across our stage, and leave our international audience excited to see the final chapter ‘Wicked: For Good’ when it opens in theaters in November.”

About Pablo Helman

Four-time Oscar-nominated visual effects supervisor Pablo Helman, (“Wicked,” “The Irishman,” “War of the Worlds,” “Star Wars: Episode 2”) has been with Industrial Light & Magic for almost 30 years, and was responsible for more than 5,000 visual effects for the two “Wicked” films.

About Dale Newton

Dale Newton joined Framestore in 2004, bringing with him a background in fine arts and a passion for illustration. Most recently serving double duty on Jon M. Chu's two-part adaptation of “Wicked,” Dale has been responsible for translating animals from real-world references into citizens of Oz. Producing talking animals that felt like natural scene partners for the star-studded cast challenged him to walk the line between fantasy and reality, developing fleshed out characters that deliver emotionally compelling scenes. His work across Paul King's "Wonka" saw Dale work closely with the director to develop the look and behaviour of the iconic Oompa Loompa, creating a digital character that matched the comedic timing of Hugh Grant's vocals, expertly animated to deliver a memorable performance. Dale's interest in design and illustration has made him Framestore's go-to for stylish segues and 'picturebook' moments. He led the distinctive ‘Tale of The Three Brothers’ animation for “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1,” as well as the charming pop-up book sequence for Paul King's much-loved “Paddington 2”. Other successes include work on Alfonso Cuarón's Oscar-winning “Gravity,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and Disney's blockbuster live action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast.”
