London, UK — After an initial reveal at OFFF Festival, Territory Studio — which specializes in drawing on expertise in narrative-led creative design to imagine, realize and build new worlds — has formally announced the opening of a new studio location in Barcelona.
The new Territory studio location aims to enable access to creative talent both in the city itself and attract talent from across mainland Europe as support for projects being delivered by Territory’s existing studios in San Francisco and London. According to Barcelona City Hall, the creative sector accounts for over 135,000 jobs in the city and has created more than 30,000 jobs over the last five years.
Marti Romances, co-founder of Territory Studios' San Francisco office, was instrumental in establishing the new Barcelona location. He comments: “Territory has been working to find a way the studio can have a presence inside the European Union to ensure collaboration opportunities with talent from mainland Europe can continue unhindered. Barcelona has a pool of amazing creative talent that understands and deeply cares for the craft of animation and design. Artists we’ve collaborated with there already understand the Territory brand, ethos, and the way we work. It’s a very exciting development for the company as a whole.”
Recently, Territory Studio celebrated 12 years of operation. During this time the studio has matured into a global team across three locations. Territory reported record profitability at the close of the 2021-2022 financial year, subsequently, grand plans for company expansion are expected.
