Creaform Reveals New HandyPROBE Arm-Free Optical CMM

Lévis, Quebec - Creaform, leader in portable 3D optical measurement technologies, today unveiled its new HandyPROBE arm-free and portable optical CMM system.

In keeping with Creaform's innovation philosophy, the HandyPROBE optical probing system features the TRUaccuracy technology, which generates higher accuracy measurements of up to 22 µm (0.001 in.) and significantly increased productivity, reliability and quality compared to other coordinate measurement systems, especially in real work environments.

The new version presented today shows smoothed out and sophisticated lines. The sturdier and slimmer device also shed a little more than 0.5 kg in the process, and now offers increased reliability. These changes are part of the continuous improvement program implemented by the company to ensure that it fine tunes its technologies so as to keep the lead in portable 3D optical measurement technologies and strengthen its position of developer and manufacturer of premium quality metrology and quality control devices.

According to product director Jean-François Larue, "the gain in productivity and the outstanding measurement reliability of the HandyPROBE explain the system's sky-rocketing 118% YOY sales increase. Plus, they are definite key points in the decision of aerospace, aeronautics, automotive and nuclear industry leader companies such as the European Space Agency, EADS (Airbus), Safran, Pratt & Whitney, BMW and Honda to provide their plants with the system. It has been used on five continents for several years now to control various types of parts on production floors' harsh environments. Some of our clients have cut down their control time by 10, while others were able to reduce human error occurrences by five."

The redesigned HandyPROBE premiered at the EMO metalworking show in Hannover, Germany.
