New York - Northeastern University, School of Visual Arts MFA Computer Art Department and the New York Digital Salon present the 2009 Visual Music Marathon, a 12-hour screening of 120 artistic works that reflect the convergence of musical composition and animated images. The Marathon will be held on Saturday, April 11, from 10 am to 10 pm, in the Visual Arts Theater at 333 West 23rd Street in New York.
The Visual Music Marathon received 300 film submissions for possible screening, representing works from 34 different countries, says a representative. Of these, 60 works were selected. The additional 60 films in the event include invited works, works submitted by two guest curators, historic works to be shown on 16mm film, and two live video performances.
"We are pleased to host the Marathon atour new Visual Arts Theater as part of our ongoing public events program that focuses on innovative contemporary art," says Bruce Wands, SVA's MFA Computer Art Chair and director of the New York Digital Salon.
The Visual Music Marathon is a joint effort between Northeastern's Department of Music and Multimedia Studies program, the School of Visual Arts MFA Computer Art Department, and the New York Digital Salon.
