MTI Film Receives First Engineering Excellence Award at HPA Awards Show Ceremony

Hollywood, Calif. - MTI Film is a recipient of the first Engineering Excellence awards to be given by the Hollywood Post Alliance. Larry Chernoff, MTI Film’s CEO, and Dr. Kevin Manbeck, vice president of Science & Technology, accepted the award during the HPA Awards Show ceremony on November 1, 2006 at the Skirball Center.

MTI Film spent several years developing Control Dailies to assist post facilities in automating and streamlining the dailies process.

The HPA Awards recognize the outstanding contributions of postproduction professionals working behind the scenes in a number of categories, including color grading, audio, visual effects compositing, and editorial for motion pictures, television, and commercials. There are two special awards, the Engineering Excellence Award and the Career Achievement Award.

Control Dailies is a PC-based telecine and audio control environment that accelerates the delivery of motion-picture dailies, facilitating faster image transfer and audio ingest, complete metadata collection, and post synchronization in SD and HD resolutions, with output to various deliverables.

"Control Dailies has been a labor of love from the time it was conceived,” says Manbeck. “I shall value the HPA Award for Engineering Excellence for Control Dailies as a milestone event of my career and consider it sufficient reward for all the hours of work devoted to creating it. The award inspires even greater devotion to continuing its development and success."
