Framestore CFC's 'Dinosaurs' receive Emmy nominations

The recently announced nominations for this year's Emmy Awards included three for projects in which Framestore
CFC teams have made major contributions. Framestore CFC has won eleven prime-time Emmys since 1996.

Walking With Monsters (US title: Before the Dinosaurs) received nominations for Outstanding Animated Program (for programming one hour or more) and also for Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special). The Framestore CFC's New York-based commercials team, Framestore NY, supplied the VFX for FedEx Stick, one of the spots nominated for Outstanding Commercial.

Walking With Monsters continues Framestore CFC's series of dinosaur-related programs that commenced in 1999 with Walking With Dinosaurs. The three 30-minute programs in Monsters form a prequel, bringing to life the bizarre beasts that roamed the Earth millions of years before dinosaurs. The new programs, which take us back 245 to 530 million years ago, feature 29 different CG creatures to be seen in nearly 600 VFX shots.

Stick—a 45-second spot for FedEx—was rated by AdAge and Campaign as being among the top-five spots shown during the Super Bowl coverage. Created by BBDO (NY) and directed by the Traktor team, Stick features VFX by Framestore NY, including a number of the company's patented prehistoric performers. The spot tells a sad tale of life before FedEx, with a caveman getting into all sorts of trouble as he attempts to send a package via Pteranodon.

All of the above awards will be presented during the 58th Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards, during a ceremony to be held at the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles on Saturday, August 19, 2006.
