MediaVault
Ciprico has debuted its PCI Express-based MediaVault MV5100 series. The rack-mountable MV5100 is the first in this series of scalable MediaVault direct-attached storage offerings tailored to content creation, CGI, 2D/3D animation, high-bandwidth uncompressed SD/HD video editing, video streaming, and 2k and 4k digital intermediate applications. The MV5100 is based on the new PCI Express (PCIe) external expansion and cable connection standard. The MV5100 will be offered in capacities ranging from 2tb to 16tb of SATA II storage, and be capable of transfer rates greater than 1gb/sec when fully populated with SATA II or SAS disk drives. In addition to the high-bandwidth and low-latency benefits of PCIe, the MV5100 provides data protection and management with multiple levels of user-selectable mirrored or striped parity RAID in RAID 0, 1, 1n, 5, 10, 10n, 50, and JBOD configurations. A host-based management utility provides local and remote management of the MV5100’s built-in RAID controller. The MV5108 model comes in 2-, 4-, 6-, and 8tb configurations.

DIGITAL PROJECTOR

Toshiba Tool
The Digital Products Division of Toshiba America Information Systems has premiered the TDP-EX20U, a DLP BrilliantColor mobile projector with extreme short-projection capabilities for viewing larger images with greater luminance from a shorter distance. In fact, the portable TDP-EX20U can produce a 60-inch image from three feet away; because the image has a shorter distance to travel, luminance or brightness is increased and the risk of ambient light degrading image quality is decreased. The TDP-EX20U boasts Windows Vista networking, integrated IEEE 802.11g wireless functionality, remote network management, and expanded multimedia connectivity. The projector features 2,300 ANSI lumens, DLP BrilliantColor technology with up to six separate colors, XGA 1024x768 native resolution, and more. Now available, the TDP-EX20U is priced at $1599.

Moving Works of Art

Acumen Entertainment Group and RabbitHoles Media have unveiled RabbitHoles 3D Motion Art—images, video, and animation that move as the viewer moves in front of it. 3D Motion Art takes advantage of patented digital image technology with RGB pulse lasers developed by Rabbit Holes Media. Digital data is embedded onto a specially formulated film emulsion that is 300 times finer than ISO 300 film. The technology supports the production of large-format images measuring up to 3.25 feet by 4 feet.
