Updated ZBrush 1.5 Offers High- and Low-Poly Meshes

Version 1.5 of ZBrush will enable users to create full figures with a new modeling tool called the 'ZSphere.' Ac cording to Pixologic, ZSphere will make it possible for users to model figures as easily as they now model heads in ZBrush, using the program's Sphere3D tool.

Users will also be able to create both high- and low-polygon meshes with UV coordinates automatically assigned. The meshes can be textured with TextureMaster (part of Pixo logic's ZScript utility, introduced earlier this year) and incorporated into a ZBrush composition. The low-polygon meshes can also be exported to other modeling and animation programs, or used in real-time applications such as game development.

ZBrush runs on both Windows and Macintosh platforms. The price of Version 1.5 will be $399, with availability yet to be announced. A Mac Os X version will be available this fall, free of charge for registered ZBrush Mac users. (Pixologic; www.pixologic.com) -JD
