Discreet Ships 3ds max 5

For game development, the software offers interactive physics and richer toolsets for creating both real-time worlds and pre-rendered cinematics. Included with 3ds max is reactor, Discreet's embedded, integrated, and interactive physics engine from Havok for soft- or hard-body dynamics.

Among other new features is a texture-mapping capability for accurately marrying image data to mesh models. And last, improved photorealistic rendering capabilities should help designers create more effective presentations. The software is priced at $3495. (Discreet; www.discreet.com) -Jenny Donelan
