IBM Debuts Super-Hi-Resolution Monitor

The T220 is an active-matrix liquid crystal display that is based on aluminum rather than the molybdenum and tungsten metals traditionally used in such monitors. IBM has also been experimenting with copper-based displays, though no such units are commercially available yet. Both aluminum and copper are better conductors than other metals currently used in monitors, according the company.

The T220 was scheduled for a limited-quantity rollout this summer, with full-scale production commencing in the fall. (IBM; www.ibm.com) -JD
