The Rope feature enables quick simulation of any deformable chain, from hair to knotted ropes. Cloth Dynamics allows the creation of cloth objects that physically interact correctly with other types of objects. Rigid Body Dynamics enables simulations for solid objects such as collapsing walls, landslides, and machines, all as affected by gravity, wind, friction, and other force effects; and Soft Body Dynamics allows full control over mass, friction, and deformation, so that any object can be made soft. Last, the Fluid Dynamics feature allows real-world simulation of fluid surfaces and buoyancy, including wake and bow effects and ripple reflections.
The plug-in is based on a physics and dynamics simulation system developed by Havok, which is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. Its intended audience includes game developers, film and video producers, and Web developers who want to add realistic simulations to their scenes. Game developers, for example, will be able to integrate a dynamics library directly into a game title, making 3ds max a more viable choice for designing interactive games.
