Anark Upgrades Web Design

"[The content] streams like video and is as seamless as broadcast television, yet people can interact with it," claims Steve Collins, Anark CEO. Thus, Collins predicts, Studio will be used by media providers interested in repurposing content. The software is also intended for Web site developers who like a mix of interactive media.

"Rather than being akin to a game engine or VRML modeling tool, Studio has interactivity and immersiveness as core functionality and will let us develop the way we like," says Mark Christiansen of Fluid in San Francisco. "We're pushing pretty hard on what [the Macromedia Flash format] can do; if we add video and 3D to Web sites, it's a whole different ballgame. Studio could let us do anything from animated brochures to applications."

Minimum requirements for Studio are a 300mhz PII and a 16mb graphics card. Anark expects to begin shipping Studio this spring at a price of less than $1000. (www.anark.com) -Barbara Robertson
