Worldwide user spending for mechanical CAD/CAM/CAE software and services will exceed $6.6 billion this year, according to a recent report from the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based research firm Daratech. This number represents a growth of 16.4%, compared to spending in 1999.

Visualization software developer Muse Technologies (Albuquerque, NM) has acquired theVRsource.com, an e-commerce site for virtual reality hardware.
