Spotlight: Pivotal Gains New Modules

Other improvements to the suite include additions to the Connectors module, which allows Pivotal to work with various CAD/CAM/ CAE, PDM, and ERP files, and to Studio, the base module for the Pivotal suite. Updates to Connectors include optimization for faster loading and viewing of data, and three new file formats-SDRC's I-deas and HPGL and STL. The Studio module has been improved through folder view enhancements that enable better desktop customization. Studio also now allows better security for transactions outside the enterprise by enabling users to compress projects into one file that can be transported over the Web through a secure firewall.

All told, the Pivotal suite includes Studio, the base platform for modeling, organizing, viewing, and analysis; Behavior, which imparts behaviors to models; Environment, for the creation of synthetic test environments; the workflow applications Publisher and Team; Viewer, which allows view-only access for clients or others who don't need additional file rights; Connectors; and the aforementioned new models.

Pivotal requires an NT Internet server and Internet-connected clients running NT or Unix. The price depends on the system configuration.
