A slew of Internet-related spinoffs-both companies and products-are in the news this month. Side Effects Software (Toronto) CEO Greg Hermanovic has stepped down to launch an as-yet-unnamed company that will focus on combining Side Effects' Houdini technology with music on the Internet....Solidworks (Concord, MA) has announced 3D Meeting, an add-in to its Solidworks modeling program that enables users to view and share mechanical design files over the Internet....Delmia is Dassault Systemes' (Suresnes, France) new brandname for e-manufacturing products. The Delmia moniker encompasses the Deneb, Delta, and Safework product lines....Edgestreme Systems (Tewksbury, MA), the new Internet infrastructure division of Avid Technology, has launched its first product, the Edgestreme Cluster, a turnkey streaming media server designed to deliver high-bandwidth content over the Web. Avid has also announced that it is acquiring The Motion Factory (Fremont, CA), which specializes in applications for the creation, delivery, and playback of 3D media for gaming and the Web.

In other news, 3D visualization and simulation software vendor Lightwork Design (Sheffield, UK) has acquired manufacturing software vendor Sirius Systems (San Jose, CA).
