LOS ANGELES — At the SIGGRAPH show recently, Wacom (www.wacom.com) showcased the way its Cintiq and Intuos5 tablets are helping educators enhance teaching and better assist students in creating professional portfolios. The company had its pen displays and tablets at its booth, paired with applications from Autodesk, Corel and Smith Micro.

Wacom’s line of Cintiq tablets includes the recently released 22HD and 24HD touch models, which allow users to work directly on screen. This year the company added multi-touch functionality to the releases.

On the education side, Wacom’s presence included demonstrations by Autodesk as part of their annual Education Summit. The company also set up a new partnership with CG training library Digital-Tutors. The companies offered free access to “Getting Started with Digital Painting in Photoshop” — an online course built around the Wacom Cintiq and Adobe Photoshop.
