PhaseSpace Announces New Motion Capture Solutions

San Leandro, Calif. - PhaseSpace Inc., a provider of optical motion capture technology and a sponsor of The Studio at SIGGRAPH, will demonstrate its IMPROV, Glove Box, and Magic Window motion-capture offerings during the annual conference and exposition.
Starting at $19,950, the new PhaseSpace IMPROV leverages the power of HP Z Workstations to produce a professional motion-capture solution at an affordable price. The IMPROV system features an HP Z210 Workstation and patented active-marker LED technology that eliminates marker-swapping, 8 cameras with 3600x3600 resolution, and easy-to-use software.

The Glove Box is a new IMPROV add-on for capturing fine hand and finger motion detail. It is a gesture-tracking system that enables the artist to create complex gestures and finger motions in real time. Gestures that could take hours for a skilled animator can be performed in seconds with the Glove Box and exported in real time so the artist can experiment with different motions.

The Magic Window is a real-time virtual camera system for the IMPULSE and IMPROV motion-capture systems. It integrates the HP Slate 500, an HP Z210 Workstation, and PhaseSpace's active marker technology, enabling the user to pre-visualize and record camera movements in a virtual scene in real time within a MotionBuilder session. The user can make adjustments to the actors and sets on the spot.
