Allegorithmic Launches Substance Designer 2, Mac and Lite Versions

Clermont-Ferrand, France - Allegorithmic has announced a new version of its nonlinear texture and material processing software, Substance Designer 2, and the first scaled-down version of its Substance Designer 2 Lite.

Now available on the Mac OS X platform, Substance Designer 2 features new vector paint, layering, and cache systems, designed to improve creative and performance capabilities.

"Substance Designer 2 truly paves the way for the next generation of texture and material creation," says Dr. Sébastien Deguy, founder and CEO of Allegorithmic. "As you are able to combine, mask, and play with all the channels of a full material at once, while using a very familiar and visual layering system, users should find Substance Designer 2 to be a more powerful and dedicated tool for material creation.

"Moreover," adds Deguy, "with the new Mac and Lite versions, more professional and semi-professional 3D artists will be able to take their texturing pipeline to the next level and save a tremendous amount of time while producing large volumes of textures."

Substance Designer 2 is a material processing solution designed to help any artist transform all kinds of image resources, from classic bitmaps to exclusive procedural elements, into real-time dynamic and flexible textures and filters.

Key new features in Substance Designer 2 include:
Vector Paint allows users to paint dynamic masks on all channels (diffuse, spec, normal, etc.) of a full material, all at once.
Material Layering System encapsulates intricate node graphs, which helps users easily create complex materials (diffuse, normal, specular, etc.) in a visual fashion.
Cache System increases over all performance speed by an estimated 25%.

Substance Designer 2 Lite has been designed to provide texture creators the essential inner characteristics of Substance Designer 2 at a more affordable price. The Lite version focuses only on the essential 3D texturing features, such as node-based interface and parametric texturing, and eliminates the advanced features, such as complex mathematical functions definition, FXMaps creation and modifications, and multi-project management.

Substance Designer 2 is now available on Mac OS X and PC platforms as an interchangeable license for $990 USD. The Lite version is priced at a $350 USD per user and is a free upgrade for Substance Designer license holders.
