Southpaw Technology, intent on delivering “a new breed of asset management,” is announcing its Tactic 3.0 asset management/collaboration software in booth #205. The new version is designed to provide studios with a more open, flexible solution for speeding the creation of digital assets across highly complex digital productions, like those found in feature film, visual effects, animation, and cinematics studios. Tactic combines fluid, Web-based asset management with customizable production and workflow management, to help keep large-scale productions on track and large datasets in order. The tool manages assets, tracking them through their entire life cycle, and connects assets to higher-level project and workflow information that can be shared across organizations using integrated communication tools. Additional features include an open API and a configurable, Web-based interface. Rumor has it that the company may also announce a significant new customer win, a potential partnership, and integration with major 3D software companies during SIGGRAPH in booth #205.
