Oscars: 20 Films Advance In VFX Race

LOS ANGELES – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced that 20 films are now in the running in the “Visual Effects” category for the 91st Academy Awards (oscars.org). Nominations for the 91st Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, and the 91st Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 24th.
The films are listed below in alphabetical order:

“Mary Poppins Returns”
“Mission: Impossible – Fallout”
“Mortal Engines”
“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”

The Academy’s Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee determined the preliminary list of films eligible for further awards consideration. Later this month, the committee will select a shortlist of 10 films that will advance to nominations voting.
