ITA & OGA Partner On Growth Initiatives

HOLLYWOOD — The Immersive Technology Alliance (https://ita3d.com), the official trade organization for immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and stereoscopic 3D, has announced a strategic partnership with the Open Gaming Alliance (OGA), a non-profit trade association focused on the business of the games industry.
"The OGA helps drive growth and business within the gaming ecosystem with research, working groups, and member-driven initiatives,” says Neil Schneider, executive director of The Immersive Technology Alliance. “The ITA has similar expertise with immersive technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality and stereoscopic 3D. By regularly working together, it will give each of our organizations the best tools available to benefit our members and help build their markets.”

"The OGA's charter is to support the business of the games industry through best practices, custom research, and growth opportunities, so it's important we align ourselves and our members with other thought-leaders especially in the rapidly-growing markets for VR and AR," adds Wanda Meloni, executive director of the OGA. "Collaborating with the ITA to support key growth initiatives means we can advance the industry as we see many advantages to working together."

The Open Gaming Alliance's corporate members include Alienware, Arxan, Azubu, Capcom, Cloud Imperium, Corsair, Digital River, DinoPC, Intel, Lenovo, Nexosis, Razer, Ubisoft, Unity, Webroot, and new members Tobii, Trion Worlds and Vuzix.

Founded in 2009, the ITA features dozens of member companies from all over the world, including Starbreeze Studios, Advanced Micro Devices, Crytek, Futuremark, ImmersiON-VRelia, Frima Studio, Skybound Entertainment (IP holder of The Walking Dead) and Basemark.

Daryl Sartain, chair of the ITA VR Council; Neil Schneider, executive director of The Immersive Technology Alliance; and Wanda Meloni, executive director of the Open Gaming Alliance recently spoke at the 2016 Vision Summit in Hollywood.  The OGA and ITA are working on together on a number of joint events and VR round-table discussions that will take place at the Game Developers Conference.
