Further enhancements to the Cinesite Inspire program aim to help address the skills shortage in the visual effects industry.

Cinesite, one of the world’s leading digital visual effects facilities, has opened for entries its successful annual internship program, Inspire, which aims to give graduates from varied course backgrounds the opportunity to gain valuable first-hand experience in the creative world of high-end visual effects.

For the 2013 Inspire program, Cinesite is offering two placements – a visual effects placement and a programming placement. Last year’s technical effects strand has evolved into the programming placement to attract talent with computer programming skills from a wider pool.

“Inspire is now in its fourth successful year and we’ve been building on the program to address areas where our industry is continuing to lack important skills,” said Antony Hunt, managing director of Cinesite. “There are still many computer programmers out there who aren’t aware of our thriving industry and the opportunities there are to build a career in visual effects. We’ve spent the past year forging relationships with tutors at colleges and universities to help get the word out about the need for programmers in our exciting industry.”

The programming internship will run in conjunction with the visual effects internship. Both placements are paid positions and will run for six weeks in the summer of 2013. The programming placement is targeting people with skills in computer graphics, computer science and related technical subjects. And the visual effects strand targets people with interests in digital matte painting, animation, lighting, texturing, modeling, FX and compositing.

Previous winners of the Inspire Internship Program have worked on the following Cinesite credits: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, John Carter and the 23rd installment in the Bond franchise, Skyfall.

Candidates can register online now at http://www.cinesite.com/internships and submit entries straight away. The deadline for entries is May 10, 2013 and the winners will be announced in June 2013.
