Smith Micro Software Celebrates 15 Years of Poser 3D Design with Month of Promotions, Contest
Aliso Viejo, Calif. - Smith Micro Software Inc.’s Productivity and Graphics Group announced the 15th anniversary of Poser, its 3D figure design and animation solution. Poser delivers textured humans of different ethnicities and body types to provide artists a way to create 3D scenes for animation and illustrations. To celebrate Poser’s 15th anniversary, Smith Micro is kicking off a Poser essay contest in which contestants can win prizes that include a MacBook Pro, one of multiple iPads, and a variety of software titles.
Since its inception in 1995, the Poser community has evolved along with the software’s technical innovation, with users incorporating Poser into scientific, medical, architectural, advertising, video games, television, and full-length feature films, reveals a company spokesperson. Poser has grown to include a new user friendly interface, more rendering power, a considerable amount of content, and many advanced features. The current version, Poser 8, was released in August of 2009.
“Over the past 15 years, Poser has gone through extensive changes, from its initial launch with a few basic 3D figures and a small library of props to today’s dozens of different ready-to-pose, fully-textured human and animal figures with gigabytes of available scene assets,” says Steve Cooper, senior product manager of Graphics Solutions for Smith Micro Software Inc. “The Poser development team is continuing to innovate character technology, to bring it to the desktop and into the hands of the growing base of artists and designers working with 3D technology.”
