London, UK - Escape Studios launches a new online competition to discover the stars of CG in the U.K. and U.S. The CG Graduate Design Awards is the first international competition of its kind and, with help from sponsors The Mill, it aims to uncover fresh computer graphics talent just coming out of university on both sides of the Atlantic. So, if you’re a student or recent graduate dreaming of breaking into the computer graphics industry, this is the opportunity for you.
The winning graduates, one in the UK and one in the US, will receive a new, year-long mentored course from Escape Studios and an online “CV clinic” session with top CG recruiters at The Mill. Twenty runners up, 10 in the UK and 10 in the US, will also receive a critique of their showreel by a judging panel comprised of Escape Studios’ tutors, with industry professionals from The Mill.
The CG Graduate Design Awards is only open to students in the US or UK in their final year of study or who have graduated in the last 12 months. The competition is open to all types of work, from visual effects, 3D animation, character animation, and even architectural visualisation projects, and is a great opportunity for participants to showcase their skills.
The launch of the competition heralds the announcement of Escape Studios’ new mentored learning courses geared towards distance learning. These new online courses offer the same expertise as its classroom lessons, with one-to-one tutorials and mentoring with Escape Studios tutors in its online learning environment. As with all Escape Studios courses, students will also benefit from recruitment advice and help in securing their first job in the industry.
To enter, respond to awards video on Escape’s YouTube channel clearly labelling the entry with your name and the showreel title. To complete your submission, send your contact details including your name, showreel title, email address, telephone number, year of graduation, university and course attended to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The closing date for all entries will be 2nd August. A judging panel of Escape’s world-class tutors and industry professionals from The Mill will critique the showreels and the overall winners will then be announced on Escape Studios’ blog in September.
