Irvine, Calif. - Sonnet Technologies has released its Fusion D400QR5 desktop and R400QR5 rackmount four-drive
hardware RAID 5 storage systems with quad interface. These new storage
systems integrate a high-performance RAID 5 controller, to maximize versatility and critical data protection.
The D400QR5 and R400QR5 SATA storage systems feature an internal RAID controller that supports RAID 5 formatting, which provides data protection in the event of a drive failure, and RAID 0, which provides maximum speed and capacity. Onboard RAID 5 support eliminates the need for a specialized RAID controller card.
Available in 2, 3, 4, or 6TB configurations, the Fusion 400QR5 systems deliver data transfers up to 225 MB/sec read and 175 MB/sec write with its drives configured as a RAID 5 set, and 240 MB/sec read and write in RAID 0.
The D400QR5 and R400QR5 offer a choice of four interfaces: eSATA for maximum throughput, FireWire 800 for medium speed, and FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 for convenience. They both require a single cable connection between the storage system and computer, simplifying setup and cutting clutter. All interface cables are included with the units.
The D400QR5 and R400QR5 feature LCD displays that show operating status, as well as integrated controls that enable users to select RAID modes and configure the SATA drives to meet their performance and data security needs for a variety of workflows. Both systems offer quiet operation with low-noise fans, and provide flexibility in mixed environments, supporting Mac OS, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Linux operating systems.
The Fusion D400QR5 and R400QR5 are available now with suggested prices ranging from $1335 for a 2TB model to $1975 for 6TB.
