Veteran Game Artist Leads Visual Arts Track

BodyPaint 3D from Maxon Computer USA is the focus of a Visual Arts Track, “Real World Texture Painting Tips for Game Developers,” at GDC. The track is aimed at artists eager to learn how to create 3D custom textures for current and next-gen games. BodyPaint 3D was used by artists at Naughty Dog to help create Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Gaming industry veteran Ben Mathis, a contributor on game titles such as GUN, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Tony Hawk Project 8 will lead the GDC tutorial, to be held in Room 3003 of Moscone Center on Wednesday, February 20, from 12 pm to 1 pm. Attendees will learn how to use BodyPaint 3D’s capabilities to obtain maximum results and how to incorporate the software into various workflows, including Photoshop, Maya, XSI, and 3ds max.
