The Foundry Introduces HIERO

Amsterdam - Visual effects software developer The Foundry is previewing HIERO, a desktop application for collaborative VFX workflow, during IBC.

HIERO provides a scriptable timeline tool for NUKE that conforms edit decision lists and parcels out VFX work to NUKE artists. Close NUKE integration enables shot progress to be viewed in the context of the edit. HIERO's pain-free shot distribution and management also reduces the infrastructure work required to keep a VFX team up and running.

"NUKE is already a powerful compositing tool, but it's missing a component many artists need. HIERO provides the missing link functionality currently dealt with either by expensive tools, in-house scripting or a cumbersome manual process," Matt Plec, senior product designer, says. "HIERO's the bridge tool our customers have been asking for."

HIERO and the rest of The Foundry's products is on exhibit during IBC at the Amsterdam RAI, Hall 7 Booth B21.

HIERO, slated for release in November 2011, will be available on Mac OS X and Linux, with Windows to follow.
