White Plains, N.Y. - The Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) and the European Broadcast Union (EBU)--in advance of their joint symposium, The Forum on Emerging Media Technologies, to be held next spring--are hosting a panel discussion with industry leaders on emerging media technologies at IBC.

The industry panel includes: Chris Johns, BSkyB's chief engineer responsible for 3D; Howard Lukk, vice president of digital production for Walt Disney Studios; Craig Todd, senior vice president and chief technical officer at Dolby Laboratories; and Pete Ludé, senior vice president at Sony Electronics and SMPTE president.

The panel shares ideas and forecasts about what the future holds and how emerging media technologies will impact business and consumer interests. An interactive Q&A immediately follows the panel discussion.

The event features news about The Forum symposium to take place next May in Geneva, providing a preview of coming attractions. Using a noncommercial, science-driven approach, the symposium will focus on technologies likely to come onto the market in the next three years and those whose commercialization is a decade away.
